South West Water will partially lift its hosepipe ban next month.

Restrictions will be relaxed in Cornwall and the Upper Tamar area on 25 September, but not yet in parts of Devon including Dawlish and Teignmouth.

The ban has been in place since August last year and was extended in April to cover more areas of Devon.

A South West Water spokesperson said: "South West Water can confirm we will lift the hosepipe restrictions in Cornwall and Upper Tamar on 25 September.

"Since the restrictions have been in place, there have been positive developments due to the collaboration of customers, South West Water's investments, and recent rainfall.

"We will continue to closely monitor water resources, the weather and demand. We have been working closely with the Environment Agency to ensure any decisions are taken responsibly."

Devon's Roadford reservoir is currently at 57 per cent capacity compared with last year's 54 per cent, and Cornwall's Colliford reservoir is at 57 per cent compared with last year's 38 per cent.

The ban does not apply to blue badge holders or those on South West Water's priority register. Businesses and farmers are unaffected.
