Dawlish band Maddy and the Chaps has released a new single covering a traditional Irish folk song.

It comes two months after it put out its first original song 'The Journey' in May, and it also released a cover of 'Stop the Cavalry' in December last year.

Its new single, 'Tell Me Ma', is out this week.

Band member Frank O'Friel said: "It was recorded by local music producer Gaz Chatterton in his mobile recording booth.

"We are really pleased with how he has captured our version of this fun traditional Irish folk song."

The band, which plays a mix of folk, country, and Celtic music with an acoustic style, often plays live in the town at events.

Maddy and the Chaps can be found playing gigs at Paignton Festival on 23 July, Ashcombe Village Fete on 30 July and Dawlish Carnival Party on 20 August.

You can listen to its new single 'Tell Me Ma' on Youtube Music, Spotify, and Apple Music.
