A Dawlish band, Maddy and the Chaps, has today (Friday 20 May) released its very first original track.

The band has previously played covers of popular songs at events in the town, and released a cover of 'Stop the Cavalry' in December last year. It plays a mix of folk, country, and Celtic music with an acoustic style.

The original song, 'The Journey', was written and sung by the band's guitarist Chris Diggins and recorded by Gaz Chatterton of Dawlish-based music producer Gaz Music Solutions.

Band member Frank O'Friel explained: "It's a story of a journey through life with a country/Americana feel. Catch it on Apple Music, Spotify and all other music streaming providers. It has already had two local radio plays this week."

The band will also be playing live at Powderham Farm Shop on Saturday 4 June from 2pm to 4pm as part of the Platinum Jubilee weekend celebrations.
