Dawlish-based band Maddy and the Chaps has released a Christmas single ahead of its benefit concert at the Strand Community Centre this weekend.

The song is a cover of 'Stop the Cavalry' by Jona Lewie. Released in 1980, it was originally intended to be an anti-war protest song but became a Christmas favourite.

Maddy and the Chaps' version was produced in Dawlish, with its sound recorded by Gaz Chatterton of Gaz Music Solutions and the video made by Andrew McCarter who originally conceived the idea.

Band member Frank O'Friel said: "We are so pleased with the audio and the visual quality which is amazing. We are getting plenty of amazing feedback on social media channels.

"We have been fundraising for the Strand Centre in Dawlish, ahead of our benefit concert on Saturday 18 December, and we are well on track to raise over £1k for their work in supporting those that need it this Christmas."

You can find the song on Spotify here, and on all streaming platforms. You can watch the video on YouTube here.
