She is currently a councillor at district and town level.
----------
I, Alison Foden – Dawlish's 'Double-Duty' Mayor from 2019 to 2021 - am running for election again in May.
With boundaries recently redrawn, I am standing for district and town council in Dawlish South West, a ward which now includes much of the town centre where I live.
An NHS worker and a tireless campaigner on local and district issues ('Saving Devon Campaign Farms – Manor Farm, Holcombe', 'People Before Housing – Build the Link Road First' and 'Teignbridge Deserves Better Bus Services' to name a few) I have also been organiser of 'Dawlish In Bloom' and the popular 'Fix Fest' repair café events.
Balancing my NHS work with my other councillor duties, I am looking forward to new challenges ahead with typical enthusiasm and cheerfulness. Life is complicated, that's why it's fun!
I plan to campaign for further recycling, repairing and upcycling facilities to help grow a sustainable future for Dawlish, possibly with the return of a regular community recycle/refuse skip for large items, to cut the carbon footprint of travelling to the tip in Newton Abbot and to help Dawlish residents who don't or choose not to drive.
As a regular public transport user, having sold my car two years ago, I know the importance of regular, efficient and effective bus services, and I will continue to campaign for bus services in Dawlish, Teignbridge, and on our side of the Exe Estuary to be on a par with those provided in towns in East Devon, on the other side of the estuary.
Because Dawlish deserves better.
