Trees cut down with saw at primary school in Teignmouth, police say

Eight trees planted by schoolchildren have been cut down with a saw at a primary school in Teignmouth, according to police.

The trees, on the grounds of Hazeldown School, were reportedly cut down over the school holidays between 21 and 24 August.

Police have asked anyone with information relating to the crime to report it.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We have received a report of eight trees being cut down in the school grounds of Hazeldown School, Maudlin Drive, Teignmouth.

"This has happened over the school holidays, sometime between Sunday 21 August and Wednesday 24 August.

"All eight trees, planted by the schoolchildren have been destroyed by someone entering the school grounds and cutting them down using a saw.

"We ask that members of the community, particularly those who live near to the school, report any trespassers via 101 or anyone with information relating to this crime to [contact 101 and] use crime reference CR/077882/22."
