Dawlish's colonnade underpass is now closed as of 11pm last night (Tuesday 30 August) until further notice.

The walkway under the railway line had been opened for around 10 days, including the bank holiday weekend, but has closed again for work on the sea wall to be carried out.

Access to the beach, promenade, and Coryton Cove remain open via the stepped footbridge near Kennaway Tunnel.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: "[The underpass is now closed] until further notice to keep everyone safe while we continue to work on the new stilling basin and the bridge that will link the two sections of promenade.

"While the underpass is closed, the beach, promenade and Coryton Cove remain open, with access via the stepped footbridge near Kennaway Tunnel. Please follow the diversion signs.

"Thank you for your continued patience as we build the new sea wall to better protect the railway through Dawlish."
