Platinum Jubilee: Dawlish street market, refreshers' fair underway
A street market is being held today (Friday 3 June) in Dawlish, as well as a 'refresher's fair' for local organisations as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The Platinum Jubilee marks 70 years since the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne in 1952. Today is the second day of a four-day long weekend lasting until Sunday 5 June.
Yesterday saw the lighting of the beacon on the Lawn, with Dawlish's among 47 beacons lit in Devon, and roughly 3,000 across the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, UK Overseas Territories and the Commonwealth.
The street market is being held on the Strand, and the road is therefore closed to traffic until 8pm today.
Featuring a variety of local traders, the street market has food, clothes, and more on sale.
Your correspondent also had a go with a cork gun - but was completely useless and didn't win anything!
The refreshers' fair is being held in the marquee and on the Lawn, and features over 30 local organisations for you to discover and find out how to join.
