Firefighters from Teignmouth and Dawlish put out a camper van on fire at Little Haldon on Sunday (30 April).

Crews were called out just after 4.20pm. The camper van was completely destroyed in the blaze, and a nearby parked car was damaged slightly by the heat.

A Dawlish Fire Station spokesperson said: "Dawlish crews were called to a car fire on Little Haldon to assist Teignmouth Fire Station who were already in attendance.

"Dawlish supplied additional crewing for breathing apparatus wearers and also provided a water supply to the Teignmouth pump by shuttling between the incident and a hydrant located at Hazeldown School.

"Police were also requested due to the road partly blocked by our appliances and heavy fog which saw too many motorists driving at speed and without lights passing by.

"Please slow down when you see us on or near road ways for our safety and others."

The cause of the fire was accidental.
