Dawlish Town Council has launched a baking competition for the coronation of King Charles III.

There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for each of three age groups (under-7s, 7-13 years old, and 14+).

Free to enter, the winners will be announced from 1.45pm at the bandstand on the Lawn on Sunday 7 May.

Only one entry per person is allowed, and you must drop off your creation between 10am and 11am at the marquee the same day along with an entry form.

Over 14s should make a cake of any size or shape using Mary Berry's all-in-one Victoria sponge recipe. The filling can be raspberry or strawberry jam, and can include homemade buttercream. You can decorate your cake however you like, eg. royal icing, fondant icing, buttercream and with any decorations you'd like to use.

Judging criteria include the taste and bake of the cake, how it is decorated, and how it appeals for the royal occasion.

Those aged 7-13 years old should make and decorate four fairy cakes "fit for a coronation".

Kids under 7 years old should decorate four shop-bought digestive or rich tea biscuits for a "right royal occasion".
