Police have seized a vehicle that they said was going at an 'outrageous' speed of 150mph along the A380.

The driver of the car, a Volkswagen, has also been reported for dangerous driving.

The car was seen accelerating at speed from the 50mph zone at Penn Inn roundabout near Newton Abbot and it was finally stopped at Telegraph Hill, according to police.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team said on Twitter on Saturday 7 May at 11.51pm: "This #Volkswagen was seen accelerating at speed from the 50 MPH zone at Penn Inn.

"It took until Telegraph Hill A380 to stop it due to its outrageous 150 MPH speed.

"Driver has been reported for dangerous driving and the vehicle was seized under S59 Police Reform Act. 3656/5400."
