Dawlish: Local man's marathon walk for Ukraine

A local man has walked the equivalent of a marathon this month to raise money for the citizens of Ukraine.
Michael Forward, 60, walked 26 miles on Saturday 12 March from Teignmouth to Exeter and back.
How much he raised is uncertain, as people were asked to donate via various different channels including the DEC Ukraine Appeal - but the fundraising was directed towards those fleeing the Russian invasion.
Mr Forward, who used to be homeless and sleep at Boat Cove, told Nub News that he loves walking and completed the 26 miles in roughly nine and half hours.
Michael said: "I left at 5.30am, and got back about 3pm.
"I'm used to walking, I've done Aberdeen [in Scotland] to Newport [in South Wales] in 24 days."
He has now been living in Teignmouth for six years.
His previous charity work includes doing a marathon and a skydive for the Big Issue Foundation.
