Firefighters attended a four-vehicle crash in Kingsteignton yesterday (Monday 6 December) at around 4.45pm which involved three cars and a lorry.

The fire crews managed to extricate the lorry driver from the vehicle and left him with paramedics at the scene.

A spokesperson from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire Control received a call from Ambulance to make us aware of an RTC at the above location that involved a lorry and at least three other vehicles.

"Control immediately mobilised three fire engines coming from Newton Abbot, Torquay and Teignmouth as well as the Heavy Rescue Unit from Middlemoor.

"Once in attendance crews confirmed an RTC involving one lorry and three cars with the driver still within the lorry, crews got to work making the vehicles safe and formulating a plan to extricate the lorry driver.

"Crews successfully extricated the driver using hydraulic rescue equipment, small tools and stabilisation equipment.

"The driver was left in the hands of the on scene paramedics."
