Councillor '99 per cent' certain Teignmouth Lido will open this summer

A local councillor has said that he is "99 per cent certain" Teignmouth Lido will open in time for summer this year.

Teignbridge's executive member for sport, recreation and culture Cllr John Nutley (Liberal Democrat, Ashburton and Buckfastleigh) made the comments at an overview and scrutiny committee on Thursday (2 February).

The outdoor pool has been shut since it was closed in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

It did not open last summer after a lengthy "decarbonisation" project, including installing solar panels, battery storage, low-carbon air-source heat pumps and high-efficiency modern pool circulation pumps, took longer than expected.
