M&Co has announced that it will close all of its stores this spring and all staff will be made redundant.

The Scottish clothes retailer, which has a store in Teignmouth, has been bought by AK Retail Holdings after it collapsed for the second time in December 2022.

However, the purchase does not include its stores or staff.

M&Co has not yet given a closing date but said it will keep its outlets open until April.

A spokesperson said: "As we haven't received any funded, deliverable offers that would result in the transfer of the company's stores or staff to a potential buyer, this means that all of our stores will now close and all staff will be made redundant.

"The M&Co 'brand' has been purchased, but unfortunately this does not include a future for our stores, website or staff.

"We will trade all of our stores until April. Updating you closer to the time of our actual closing date."
