At last a version of Sue Gray's report has been published but frankly it takes us no further forward. 300 photos and 500 pages of evidence are missing! Proper transparency and integrity is required, and the full report must be published, as soon as the Metropolitan Police inquiries have concluded.

While the 'update' is very thin on conclusions, it makes two critical findings on judgement and leadership. The lack of these qualities is pretty damning for any Prime Minister and his team. Good governance must include transparency and integrity.

We need the publication of the full report so that we can draw conclusions, make the necessary changes and move on. The UK is facing numerous challenges domestically (a cost of living crisis) and internationally (Russian aggression towards Ukraine).

People across the country are facing an incoming hike in energy prices and the Government should be doing everything it can to avert this. We cannot have a situation where Government bandwidth is being taken up by the ridiculous, at a cost to the serious. We should also be shouting loudly about the incredibly positive role that global Britain is playing in helping to support Ukraine, but everything is being overwhelmed by 'partygate'.

As things stand, I remain of the opinion that the Prime Minister is not the person to lead the country as we enter a post-Covid recovery and utilise post-Brexit opportunities, and he should move on.
