Work to resurface, reconstruct platforms at Dawlish Railway Station continues

Work is currently underway on the platforms at Dawlish Railway Station, with buses replacing trains between Exeter and Newton Abbot at weekends.

Network Rail contractors BAM Nuttall are resurfacing and realigning the landward platform.

The seaward platform is also being entirely reconstructed, with its old timber frame being taken out and replaced with concrete.

The gap between the platforms and trains is also being reduced for passengers.

The work has meant that replacement buses have been taking the place of trains at weekends this month. This will continue this weekend (19-20 February) and next weekend, after which the work is expected to be completed.

Work to build a 209m extension to the rockfall shelter north of Parsons Tunnel is also ongoing.
