A bench in Dawlish is to be dedicated to a well-known local man who died in 2019.

A replacement bench is to be installed at the corner of Penfield Gardens and Old Town Street, as the existing seat there is in such bad condition it can no longer be used.

Members of Dawlish & District u3a were pleased to welcome Philippa Davies of Dawlish Nub News to their monthly meeting on Zoom. In just a few months, Philippa has established the Dawlish website as an important new medium for local people to find out about all the news in their home town. At this time when so many people feel isolated, this is an especially significant development in building social cohesion. There are currently over 60 Nub News sites across the UK.

Plans to extend a rockfall shelter over the railway line between Dawlish and Holcombe have today (Friday 19 March) received confirmation of £37.4 million pounds in Government funding.

The money from the Department for Transport will help Network Rail build a 209m long extension of the rockfall shelter north of Parsons Tunnel.

Local residents and businesses will be encouraged to give their feedback on the town council's draft tourism strategy, which takes a realistic look at what the parish has to offer and the areas where it needs to make improvements.

Two volunteer 'wildlife wardens' have been recruited for Dawlish to help protect the area's natural habitats.

Dave Hutton and Scott Williams will be working to help wildlife thrive in fields, woodland, beaches, urban areas, green spaces and waterways in Dawlish and Dawlish Warren.
