Freemason David Force presents the cheque to Cllr John Petherick and his wife Linda.

A donation of £250 was given to Cllr John Petherick (Chairman of Teignbridge District Council) for his charity, East Teignbridge Community Transport Association.

Cllr Petherick is helping the charity to raise money towards a bespoke minibus, costing over £65,000, which is urgently needed to enable them to continue the much-needed services that they provide for the community.

On Saturday evening, the Prime Minister announced a second national lockdown, effective from 00:01 on Thursday 5th November until Wednesday 2nd December.

Like many, I am yet to be convinced that a second national lockdown would have a positive and effective impact in stopping the virus and believe instead that it would have a number of wide-ranging negative impacts on the population.

Regulars at the Brunswick Arms know that its landlord, Dan Force, is a keen rugby player and a long-time member of Teignmouth RFC – the former club of Exeter Chiefs stars Joe and Sam Simmonds.

And, having played for Teignmouth with the Simmonds brothers, Dan's not at all surprised by their role in the Exeter Chiefs' glorious double victory this month, as they won first the European Heineken Champions Cup and then the Gallagher Premiership title.
