Dawlish food review: Hoi Shing Chinese Restaurant
A truly excellent restaurant can transport you to another place and time.
In the 2007 film Ratatouille, the rodent chef makes a food critic remember how his mother used to make the dish the film is named after.
Just so with Hoi Shing Chinese Restaurant in Dawlish.
When your correspondent and his wife ordered a takeaway on the Just Eat app recently, he did not expect to remember a childhood trip to China.
But so he did, along with the smell of tofu being made, the taste of Beijing duck, and learning how to use chopsticks.
In three words, Hoi Shing is inexpensive, delicious, and authentic.
You will not be disappointed.
You can find Hoi Shing on Brunswick Place in Dawlish and here on Google Maps.
