Views wanted on Teignbridge District Council budget priorities
Teignbridge District Council has launched a survey for the public to give their views on what it should spend money on in 2023/24.
The local authority said that "difficult decisions need to be made" about its budget priorities as funding for local government decreases.
The council has reportedly been focusing on delivering "essential" services such as waste and recycling, street cleaning, and housing support.
The survey also includes questions on climate change, attracting new businesses, and how the council can generate more income.
The council is currently seeking to gain extra income by raising council tax by 2.99%, and is also planning to refund £5.54 as a one-off cost-of-living payment for all those eligible to pay council tax on their main home.
Cllr Richard Keeling (Lib Dem, Chudleigh) said: "Teignbridge gets 9p in every £1 of council tax, and it's vital that we spend every penny wisely, making sure it goes on services that best serve our residents.
"We believe our current proposals will help us achieve this, but we're keen to hear what people think.
"As well as helping us make decisions about how to spend our money, this survey also provides a good way of gauging satisfaction and giving us ideas on how continue to improve our services and focus on what matters to local people."
The survey runs until Wednesday 25 January at teignbridge.gov.uk/budgetsurvey.
