The Old Mill Tea Room in Dawlish has a new owner.

Kelly Hammett, pictured, took over the former mill on Brunswick Place in July. She had previously worked in The Imperial JD Wetherspoon pub near the University of Exeter for 12 years.

Exeter born-and-bred, Kelly has fond memories of Dawlish from her childhood.

She said: "I love Dawlish, I spent most of my childhood here on day trips."

Kelly has kept the tea room's menu of cream teas, sandwiches, and ploughman's lunches broadly the same but has added more breakfast options.

She has also upcycled several old pieces of furniture, put up fairy lights indoors, and set out more tables and chairs in the outdoor area where the original water wheel is.

She added: "I've just put up a canopy out the back as well, so throughout the winter if there's cyclists or dog walkers there's a bit of extra shelter.

"I've allowed dogs inside as well actually now it's got a bit chillier - as long as they have well behaved owners!"

The Old Mill Tea Room is open all year round, with opening hours at the time of writing 10am to 4pm seven days a week.

You can find it at 23 Brunswick Place in Dawlish and here on Google Maps.
