Dawlish Art Group has just ended its summer exhibition after a successful week at the Strand Centre.

This was its first exhibition since 2019. Over the last three years its membership has changed with some older members deciding not to return after Covid and others moving away from the area. However, the group has attracted new members who were exhibiting their work at the Strand Centre for the first time.

Local artist Louise Bougourd judged the paintings and awarded prizes in various categories. More details of prizewinners will shortly be available on the group's website dawlishart.co.uk and on its Facebook page.

Visitors to the exhibition were asked to vote for their favourite painting and the winner this year was Liz Brown for The Red Bag.

The art group was delighted both with the sales and with the encouraging responses from visitors. In fact, talking to visitors and listening to their reactions to the artwork is an important part of the enjoyment of the exhibition. More of this talented group's work will be on view at the Beachcomber on the Den, Teignmouth from Saturday 13 August to Friday 19.

The group would like to thank Dawlish Town Council for its grant which greatly helped it with the costs of the exhibition and special thanks to Councillor Alison Foden who supported the initial application.
