Both carriageways will close from the Penn Inn roundabout (near Newton Abbot) to the Eagle Farm junction (near Kingsteignton) from 8pm to 6am on Monday 12 September and Tuesday 13 September.

The carriageways will then close from the Eagle Farm junction (near Kingsteignton) to the Splatford Split interchange (where the A38 and A380 split) from 8pm to 6am from the evening of Wednesday 14 September to the morning of Saturday 17 September.

The maintenance work will include grass cutting, tree work, routine inspections, sign cleaning, safety barrier maintenance, carriageway patching, cats eye replacement and re-lining existing road markings.

A Devon County Council spokesperson said: "The works... are essential to ensure that this busy road is adequately maintained, and will be carried out using overnight road closures to safeguard our workforce."
