Police catch over 20 drivers speeding in Teignmouth

As many as 21 drivers were caught speeding in Teignmouth on Thursday (27 October), according to Devon and Cornwall Police.

The force deployed a 'speed detection officer' to Teignmouth and Halberton near Tiverton - catching a total of 89 people going too fast on the road.

The drivers will receive notices of intended prosecutions. (Penalties can include, for example, a choice of a speed awareness course, a £100 fine and three points on your licence, or court proceedings - but there are exceptions).

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said on Twitter: "A productive shift yesterday for an Exeter based Speed Detection Officer - Deploying to Teignmouth and Halberton. 89 drivers will be receiving Notice of Intended Prosecutions, 21 from Teignmouth and from 68 Halberton. We could be anywhere…"
