Planning permission is being sought for 25 timber 'camping pods' already built at Golden Sands Holiday Park in Dawlish.

According to the planning documents, they were "originally considered to fall within the definition of a caravan".

But, "in the light of recent appeal decisions elsewhere", and following discussions with the council, they were considered to fall outside the definition and so a planning application has been requested.

The first five pods were installed in late 2018, with a further 10 added in 2019 and 10 more in 2022.

They are located on "grassed terraces originally created for touring caravan use" and can be accessed via an existing road on site.

The nearest residential properties are reportedly on Mount Pleasant Road, "some 100m south of the closest pod and separated by a field, hedgerows, tree belts and rear gardens".

The application is currently awaiting a decision from the district council.
