Plans for a new play park in the Manor Gardens and an interactive children's trail on the Lawn have come a step closer after Dawlish Town Council agreed to provide up to £200k in funding.

The future play park has been described as an 'imaginative, dynamic, and coordinated play experience for children and young people' and will also feature a space for adults and be accessible for people with disabilities.

According to Cllr Linda Petherick at a recent town council meeting, the total cost of the play park and children's trail project amounts to around £298k.

Funding from Teignbridge District Council to the tune of £143k covered just less than half of the cost - and so the town council decided to set aside up to £200k to make up the difference.

The final cost of the project may vary, and will be known in July.
