The Lawn in Dawlish could see a new 'children's trail' in the near future, and a play park may also be built in the gardens of the Manor House.

The Lawn Working Group, part of Dawlish Town Council, has said that it has been working hard over the last two years to bring the plans for both projects to fruition.

Speaking about the play park, Cllr Linda Petherick, Chair of the Lawn Working Group, said: "It will be an imaginative, dynamic, and coordinated play experience for children and young people.

"In fact, the equipment should be able to provide and facilitate a diverse range of users: a place not just for youngsters to play, but rest and recreation for adults and older people of Dawlish and the Parish.

"We have looked at functionality, accessibility, including disabled access to make it a fully integrated experience for all, a facility for people with disabilities and wheelchair users that able bodied people can use as well.

"We have worked very closely with Oakwood College to make sure we meet the needs of everyone. Vision, auditory, gustatory, taste, position balance and movement have all been considered.

"This will be a community asset for all. We have carried out a consultation with all the schools, colleges, nurseries, and other toddler groups in the parish of Dawlish, which was very successful, we had hundreds of responses."

A public consultation for the community of Dawlish and the surrounding parish will be carried out soon, after the group completes the procurement documents and receives draft plans and costs.
