New campsite proposed for Dawlish Warren

A proposed new campsite in Dawlish Warren will be discussed by town councillors this Friday.

The applicant wants to create a camping ground with 26 pitches for standard bell tents on agricultural land known as The Field, off Warren Road.

The application also includes 29 parking spaces, a shower and toilet block, reception, and a communal open barn and picnic area.

The application, which will be determined by Teignbridge District Council, has attracted three objections from local residents – two of whom say work has already started on the site.

The objectors express concerns about over-development in the Dawlish Warren area and the impact on wildlife and the environment.

They're also worried about potential noise pollution, and extra traffic on an already busy road – although the county council's Highways officers say the amount of traffic likely to be generated is 'unlikely to have a severe impact on the existing Highway network'.

Dawlish Town Council's planning committee will discuss their response to the application when they meet on Friday, April 23.

Full details of the application can be viewed on the district council's Planning portal.

Another planning application being discussed by the committee is for Cofton Holiday Park: read more here.
