Lidl has said it is still interested in opening a new store in Dawlish.

The German supermarket chain announced its desire to do so in April last year, but has not yet found a suitable site.

It is offering a finder's fee of either 1.5 per cent of the total freehold, or 10 per cent of the first year's rent for a leasehold, to anyone who can find a suitable site.

Lidl GB CEO Ryan McDonnell said: "We had over 1.4 million new shoppers coming to us from our competitors over the course of last year.

"As we progress further into 2023, we know that more shoppers will make the switch, and whichever of our stores they choose, they know they're getting the best value."

Its requirements for new stores include easy access and strong pedestrian or traffic flow, unit sizes between 18k and 26.5k sq ft, and more than 100 car parking spaces.

If you know of a potential site, you can contact Lidl here.
