A consultation asking people what they think of closing ticket office windows, including at Dawlish railway station, is due to end on Friday (1 September).

There are currently plans to close hundreds of ticket offices at stations in England as more fares are paid digitally.

Staff would take on "multi-skilled" roles and be available to sell tickets and help passengers on station platforms instead.

At Dawlish railway station, 34.4 per cent of tickets were sold at the ticket office window, 25 per cent at the ticket vending machine, and 40.6 per cent booked online in the 2022/23 financial year.

The average of tickets sold at ticket offices is less than 15 per cent, GWR said.

To take part in the consultation, contact Transport Focus by 1 September by email [email protected] or Freepost: RTEH-XAGE-BYKZ, Transport Focus, PO Box 5594, Southend-on-Sea, SS1 9PZ.
