A 'poppy wall' made up of handmade knitted poppies was put up on Dawlish Lawn on Tuesday 1 November this week.

Members of the public are welcome to add their own knitted poppies to the collection on the railings of Dawlish Bowling Club until Monday 14 November (they will be taken down the following day).

In 2021, over 800 poppies were on the wall.

A Dawlish Town Council spokesperson said: "Thanks to the volunteers this morning who came down to help set up the poppy wall in very wet conditions at times. They are pictured below with the Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Lisa Mayne.

"Please add your knitted poppy to the wall anytime between now and 14 November.

"All poppies are taken down and washed after the event and kept for the following year. A special thanks to Noreen of the yarn bombers who aided ties to a lot of the poppies for this year."

A two-minute silence will be held at the poppy wall on Armistice Day (Friday 11 November) at 11am.
