Further rail strikes to impact Dawlish over Christmas, New Year

Further rail strikes are set to take place on the Great Western Railway network over the Christmas period and next month.

The strike days announced are 24 December (from 6pm) until 27 December (until 6am) and also 3 to 7 January.

Industrial action has so far taken place in JuneJulyAugustOctober, November, and December this year.

What days will be affected?

Saturday 24 December (strike, from 6pm)

Services will finish earlier on Christmas Eve and all journeys "will need to be completed by lunchtime".

Customers are recommended to only travel if necessary.

Sunday 25, Monday 26 December (strike/ public holiday)

No GWR trains will operate.

Tuesday 27 (strike, until 6am) to Monday 2 January

Trains will be disrupted, a "reduced level of service" throughout the day.

Tuesday 3 to Saturday 7 January (strike)

An "extremely limited service" with eg. London Paddington services operating (which will call at Dawlish).

No trains on Devon branch lines.

What if I already have a ticket?

Tickets for 24 December can instead be used on either the 21, 22, or 23 December or up to and including Thursday 29 December; tickets for 27 December can instead be used on 23 December or up to and including Thursday 29 December; tickets for 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 January can be used the day before, or up to and including Tuesday 10 January.

If you have a tickets for travel on strike days you can claim a full refund or amend your ticket.

If you travel and are delayed, you may be entitled to Delay Repay compensation.
