Food review: Le Cygne, Dawlish | Opinion

"What is brunch, exactly?" - was the question I was asking myself as I sat down in Le Cygne (French for 'The Swan') at around 2.30pm earlier this week.

Despite having completely missed the point of it being a fusion of breakfast and lunch, I nevertheless was treated to a dish called 'Eggs Blackstone', complete with poached eggs, streaky bacon, and Hollandaise sauce on an English muffin.

It was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The egg yolks were a deep, rich orange, the bacon was crispy, and the muffin was warm and freshly toasted.

It's a difficult meal to get right, but Le Cygne delivered and passed with flying colours.

I also enjoyed a passion fruit smoothie - a perfectly smooth, refreshing drink for a warm day.

I can't recommend them enough. Why not help support this local business and go and have a drink, or something to eat?

You can find Le Cygne here on Google Maps.
