A fake Facebook post about the kidnap of a 14-year-old girl in Dawlish was identified as a scam by police yesterday (24 June).

Devon & Cornwall Police said that the incident did not take place, and that clicking on the link will lead you to a video of a fake kidnap - and you'll have to enter your Facebook details to see it.

Police warned that it was "an attempt to obtain your personal information in the worst way possible".

You can report non-emergency crime online here, by emailing [email protected], or by calling 101.

If someone's life is at risk, someone is seriously injured, offenders are nearby and/or immediate action is required, make sure to call 999.
