Dawlish Against Plastic have taken over the organising of the litter pick in the parish since The Open Daw sadly closed.

New and remaining volunteers collected over 19kg of litter on Saturday morning and will continue their efforts every last Saturday of the month, from 10am-noon at the Manor House carpark.

They would love for more residents to come and join them.

The young people's ambassador for Dawlish Against Plastic (Katherine Dawson, age 8) said: "It is sad that people leave rubbish but it feels good to help our wildlife by collecting it.

"Today I litter-picked with my friend Eira as it was her first time. We had fun and saved some animals from getting hurt or stuck in litter."

Katherine is helping to coordinate the litter-pick with her mum Rosie and grandmother Gill, age 70.

Anyone can register to join, with under 18s needing an adult present.

People are encouraged to email [email protected] for more information.
