Dawlish Town Council has released a new souvenir programme of events for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in the town.

The Platinum Jubilee, which marks 70 years since the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the throne, will be celebrated over four days from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June. Thursday and Friday will be bank holidays.

In Dawlish, there will be events on the Lawn on all four days.

The souvenir programmes are described as 'limited edition' with 1,952 copies printed - the same number as the year Queen Elizabeth II was crowned.

Each copy will be signed by Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Lisa Mayne, and contain an article on the role Dawlish played in the 1930s as a seaside holiday destination for the young Princess Elizabeth.

The programme will also have several period photographs from the 1952 coronation celebrations, and a souvenir postcard.

Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Lisa Mayne said: "I'm so pleased that Dawlish has produced a souvenir of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

"We've deliberately kept the cover price low at £3 and all profits will go to my mayoral charities of the year which are Dawlish Community Transport, Assist Teignbridge and Dawlish Celebrates Carnival.

"The only aspect of the project that I'm not entirely thrilled by was the task of signing each one personally, 1,952 times!"

You can get a copy of the Dawlish Platinum Jubilee Souvenir Programme for £3 from The Manor House on Old Town Street, Presents of Dawlish, and The Puzzled Sweet Shop on the Strand (as well as other outlets, coming soon). They will also be available on the Lawn at the Dawlish Town Council gazebo during the Jubilee celebrations.
