Ukraine's Independence Day will be marked again in Dawlish this year.

The country's blue and yellow flag will be raised at 1pm on 24 August at the piazza at the bottom of the Lawn.

The day was recognised for the first time last year, and saw the hoisting of the flag, prayers, and songs sung by Ukrainian refugees living in the local area.

A Dawlish Town Council spokesperson said: "All are welcome to join in this event to mark Ukrainian Independence Day on Thursday 24 August at the Piazza at the bottom end of the Lawn."

Ukraine declared independence in 1991 amid the fall of the Soviet Union.

Russia invaded Ukraine 18 months ago on 24 February 2022, and the conflict is still ongoing.
