Dawlish: Police appeal for witnesses of Newton Abbot crash that left elderly woman with 'significant serious injuries'

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage of a crash in Newton Abbot yesterday (Tuesday 26 April) after which a woman in her 70s was airlifted to hospital.

The crash involved a female pedestrian, who was seriously injured, and an MG TF car and occurred at the junction of Shaldon Road with Queensway.

Police were called at around 3.10pm to the incident and the junction was closed for five and a half hours for police to investigate.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 3.10pm on Tuesday 26 April to a collision at the junction of Shaldon Road with Queensway, Newton Abbot.

"The collision involved an MG TF car and a pedestrian.

"The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, sustained significant serious injuries and was airlifted to Derriford hospital.

"The junction was closed for five and a half hours while police investigated the collision and carried out enquiries at the scene.

"Officers from the Roads Policing Team are appealing for any witnesses, particularly with dashcam of the collision, to come forward."
