Dawlish firefighters helped put out a van fire yesterday evening (Thursday 7 April) in the Teignmouth area.

The incident took place on Holcombe Down Road and fire crews were called out just before 6pm.

The van was left severely damaged. The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire control received a call from a member of the public to a vehicle fire on Holcombe Down Road, Teignmouth.

"A fire engine from Teignmouth attended the incident, on arrival crews confirmed the transit van was well alight and immediately requested a second fire engine to provide additional water.

"Crews got to work with one thermal imaging camera, two breathing apparatus, two jets and utilised a local hydrant to extinguish the fire.

"The van and contents were severely damaged by fire. The cause of the fire is believed to have been accidental."
