Fire crews were called to a property in Dawlish last night (1 July) just after 10.45pm to put out a fire in a kitchen caused by tea towels on a hob.

The two occupants had already evacuated the property, and the fire service quickly extinguished the fire and removed the smoke.

The gas and electric were cut off for safety, and an ambulance was called to check the occupants for smoke inhalation.
