Dawlish Community Transport brings back pre-pandemic trips
Dawlish Community Transport has been slowly reinstating many of its services it had before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The charity offers transport for most abilities to medical/health and wellbeing appointments, as well as regular door-to-door ring-and-ride services to enable you to do your banking, shopping and more.
Recently, it has offered trips to Newton Abbot, Torquay, and Teignmouth (including to Morrisons supermarket). There are also social trips and minibus hire is available for community groups.
Manager of Dawlish Community Transport Sally Preston said: "We cover a wide area and pick people up from their homes to enable them to be independent and do their own tasks such as shopping, banking, post office etc and enjoy time together on the very much social element of meeting and chatting to others on the bus.
"There is a lovely atmosphere, with our new passenger assistant Pauline on board, supporting Nigel the driver, welcoming people on the bus and ensuring they are ok.
"Driving the bus to set destinations is just part of what the journey offers; support to those in the community who aren't able to use public transport or choose to travel with us for their own personal reasons. For many it's where friendships are made, info is shared and where wellbeing is key."
