Local running club Dawlish Coasters has recently welcomed its 100th member.

Founded 25 years ago as a small ladies-only running club in Starcross, it now welcomes male and female runners of any ability.

The club puts on three events each year: the 'Oh My Obelisk' race in January (9 or 13 miles), the 'Coastal Dash' in the summer (4 miles), and the 'Forest Flyer' in Haldon Forest in August (5 miles).

New members are welcome to join Dawlish Coasters, which meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6.30pm for one hour at Dawlish Sports Bar on Sandy Lane.

Each training run is led by a trained leader or coach, and can sometimes incorporate sprints, hill work and strength building.

Club Secretary Melanie said: "We have runners of all abilities in our club.

"Our faster runners will always loop back and collect our 'improvers'. They do not mind, they just love to run!

"We are currently welcoming any new members, just turn up at the Sports Bar car park and run!

"Membership joining details can be found on the website www.dawlishcoasters.com.

"If you are unsure about your running capabilities please get in touch via the contact us page on the website or via the Facebook page.

"Runners from other clubs or keen runners on holiday are also welcome to join club nights as a guest for a donation of £1."
