Dawlish: Seven key events to watch out for during Great Big Green Week

The Great Big Green Week is a national event organised by the Climate Coalition.

Starting on Saturday 18 September and ending on Sunday 26 September, a large number of local groups including Sustainable Dawlish, Dawlish Against Plastic, and Dawlish and Teignmouth Camera Club have organised a series of events and activities to take place in the town during the week.

Seven key events and activities to watch out for

1. Great Big Dawlish Lawn Event, Saturday 18 September

Mayor of Dawlish Cllr Val Mawhood will conduct the official opening, after which musical performances from schools in the town will take place. Information stands representing various organisations will be on the Lawn.

2. Ranger-led Dawlish Warren Reserve Guided Bird Walk, Saturday 18 September

You'll need to book in advance for this one by calling 01626 863980. Not suitable for dogs and costs £3.20 for adults and £1.60 for children.

3. Before the Flood (Documentary with Leonardo DiCaprio), Saturday 18 September

This documentary on the impact of climate change is being screened at 7.30pm at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

4. Dawlish Fairtrade Friends Afternoon Tea and Quiz, Wednesday 22 September

This event will take place at the Strand Community Centre inside Dawlish URC Church from 3pm-5pm.

5. Sustainable Dawlish Climate Change Talk and Q&A by Prof. Tim Lenton, University of Exeter, Thursday 23 September

This one is taking place at the Riverside Centre.

6. Talk and Tour: 'Getting the best produce out of a garden' with Cliff Curd, Friday 24 September

7. 6th Dawlish 'Fix Fest' Repair Café, Saturday 25 September

Volunteers will be on hand to have a go at fixing broken items, repair clothes and more.

It will take place at the Manor House on Old Town Street from 9.30am-2.30pm.
