Dawlish Against Plastic's next beach clean is this Saturday

A socially distanced beach clean is being organised by Dawlish Against Plastic on Saturday, April 10.

Anyone wanting to take part needs to register in advance – contact details are below.

The session will start at 10.30am at Boat Cove, and end at midday, when the items collected will be sorted and weighed.

Beach cleans are not the same as litter picks; the aim is to clear up pieces of plastic, marine waste and material washed up by the sea.

When the waves bring seaweed to the shore, it usually hides hundreds of small pieces of plastic that have been broken up by the sea, along with pieces of fishing line, old drink cans, scraps of fabric and other waste.

A beach clean by Dawlish Against Plastic last October removed nearly 40kg of waste – and there were some items too big and heavy to be taken away.

To register for this Saturday's session, email DawlishAgainst [email protected] or call 07791 464 995.
