A clean-up session is taking place at Dawlish Warren beach this Saturday (May 15), organised by Dawlish Against Plastic.

The group have been inviting people to join their socially-distanced beach cleans throughout the pandemic – but always at the town beach, not the Warren.

This Saturday's event will start at 2pm, and people are asked to meet at the last beach hut in the row, heading away from the shops.

Beach cleans are not litter picks, which is why they take place out of season as well as during the months which are busy with visitors.

The aim is to remove pieces of plastic, marine waste and material washed up by the sea.

Anyone wanting to join the beach clean is asked to register beforehand to help Dawlish Against Plastic comply with social distancing and track and trace – please email [email protected]

This clean is registered with Surfers Against Sewage as part of the environmental charity's 'Million Mile Clean' initiative, which encourages people to organise their own events to keep the seashore free from pollution.
