Dawlish Garden Society Annual Summer Show

Dawlish Garden Society will be holding its Annual Summer Show, on Saturday August 12th, at the Stand Centre, it will be open to the public from 1.00 - 4.00pm. There will also be a summer plant sale outside the Strand Centre from about 9.00am - 3.00pm. There are classes in the show for children from the age of 3 in crafts and cooking, then for adults there is the fruit, vegetables and flowers, along with photography, art, baking and a range of crafts. Come along and see the show, and you might like to enter next year.

Dawlish held its first summer show 160 years ago, in 1863, at Elm Grove House. Although society and fashions have changed and there was a hiatus of shows during World War One and the aftereffects of that, the show has endured, and adapted. This year for the first time we have a category for chilies and another for jewellery, alongside categories which were at the show in 1874.
