Police are working with Dawlish's Gatehouse School to improve security after several cases of trespassing and vandalism.

Over the last few months, intruders have come on to the site outside school hours and caused damage to equipment, broken some seating and lit fires in the fire pit in its Forest School area.

A charity supporting people in the Dawlish, Teignmouth and Chudleigh area is to receive the UK's highest award that can be given to a voluntary group.

Volunteering in Health has been honoured with The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

With half term approaching for many schools in the county, Public Health Devon are advising residents to be cautious of travelling due to spread of the Indian variant of the COVID-19 virus in some areas of England.

There are no known cases of the Indian variant in Devon at the moment, but the areas with the highest cases in the country include Bedford, Blackburn with Darwen, Bolton, Burnley, Kirklees, Leicester, London Borough of Hounslow, and North Tyneside.
