Town council objects to disposal of dredged waste off Dawlish coast

Concerned town councillors are to write a 'strongly worded' objection to the dumping of dredged material in the sea off Dawlish and Teignmouth.

But at Dawlish Town Council's meeting on October 7, members voted unanimously to write to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) objecting to its granting of the licence.

Teignmouth railway remodelling put on hold

Multi-million pound plans to move Teignmouth's cliffside railway line further out to sea have been put on hold, following major opposition from the public.

The scheme would have cost hundreds of millions of pounds, and would take eight years to complete.

Pete Ward, volunteer driver, recognised in Queen's Honours

A Dawlish man has been awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen's Birthday Honours List, for his community service as a volunteer driver.

The charity's manager, Chloe Myers, described him as 'the loveliest man' and said he constantly goes out of his way for patients, 'dropping everything' to make sure they get to their medical appointments on time.

Dawlish residents are being urged to make their views known on the proposed reorganisaton of local NHS health and care services.

The plans will see a new health and wellbeing centre built in the centre of Teignmouth, accommodating GP surgeries and other health and care services including those provided by community groups and charities.

Beach camera project gives a picture of erosion at Dawlish Warren

Users of Dawlish Warren beach are being invited to help a project to identify and monitor coastal erosion.

The photos can then be shared with the observatory via its website or by email, giving scientists a catalogue of pictures showing the changes to the beach over a period of time.

The proportion of people in Devon seeing their GP face-to-face, rather than online or by phone, is higher than the national average.
