Cllr Rosalind Prowse as Dawlish Mayor, 2004

Rosalind Prowse has lived in Dawlish for 52 years, and been a town councillor for 18 years. She was Mayor in 2004, which was the busiest year of her life - she attended more than 500 events and meetings.

Of that year, she said: "There was so much to do, and I supported as much as possible. Sometimes five things in a day. It was a wonderful experience but I gave it my all and could never repeat it."

After months without being able to hold monthly meetings, Dawlish & District U3A members were delighted to be able meet again in November. Sadly, it could not be face to face, but gathering on Zoom was a good alternative.

They returned to a country they heard about two years ago when Chair Graham Carey talked about his experiences of living and working in Moldova with the Salvation Army. This time, Hugh Scudder updated members on life in that country, the poorest in Europe, and now further ravaged by the impact of Covid-19.

A banner has appeared on the fence outside the Old Vicarage, expressing the frustration of Weech Road residents who have to live near the derelict building.

They feel let down by Teignbridge District Council, which has repeatedly refused planning applications to redevelop the semi-ruined house, and Historic England which has also objected on the grounds that the vicarage is a Grade Two listed building.
